Tom Hanks may have won a ton of awards in his career, including an Emmy on Sunday night for his work on the HBO miniseries "The Pacific," but there's still one thing that the Oscar winner has yet to do: He wants a part on "Glee," as does his wife and fellow Gleek, Rita Wilson.
" 'Glee,' oh my God! Yes! Oh please. Call [show creator] Ryan [Murphy] up! I was gonna get up on the stage tonight with them and start dancing," Wilson teased to MTV News at the HBO Emmy afterparty, where she tried to think up what her choice tune for the show would be. "For 'Glee'? Hold on!"
Her husband, on the other hand, had the perfect set of tunes for his wife to perform on the hit show. "You work for MTV, can't you make that happen? Bring it on! Bring it on!" he joked. " 'All the Single Ladies'! Oh no! 'Do You Believe in Love' by Cher!" (Hanks famously sang the Beyoncé track at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th anniversary concert at Madison Square Garden last October, saying it's a "damn fine song.")
While Hanks and Wilson wait for the call from Murphy about their cameos on the show, earlier in the night, "Glee" managed to take home a few Emmy Awards of its own, including prizes in the Supporting Actress, Comedy Series category for Jane Lynch, and the Directing for a Comedy Series for Ryan Murphy.
The night's host, Jimmy Fallon, kicked off the Emmys with a musical number that included several of the stars from "Glee," including Lea Michele and Cory Monteith, plus a number of TV's biggest stars like Jorge Garcia, Tina Fey, Jon Hamm, Nina Dobrev and Joel McHale.
What would you like to see Hanks and Wilson do on "Glee" should they get their wish? Tell us in the comments!
